What is Cryptography?

Cryptography is what allows us to do all our private things, privately. In CTFs, it's mostly about breaking encryption schemes, hashing algorithms, and weird encoding methods to find that hidden message ( most likely the flag ).

In this section, we will explore the very basics of cryptography (encodings) and then dive deeper into more complex concepts such as Symmetric & Asymmetric Encryption.
